In some cases, insurers may even refuse coverage unless strict safety measures are demonstrated, further raising compliance expenses.

Facilities using chlorine gas are subject to federal and state reporting requirements, emergency response planning, and community right-to-know regulations. Meeting these requirements often involves hiring consultants, conducting audits, and allocating resources to documentation and inspections.

From an economic standpoint, organic chlorine simplifies logistics. It does not require pressurized tanks or highly specialized equipment for transport or storage, which reduces operating costs and streamlines daily management. Its controlled release allows stable disinfection levels to be maintained for longer, preventing overdosing and optimizing overall product consumption.

The use of chlorine gas represents a combination of high risks and high costs that make it increasingly unattractive for modern water treatment systems. In contrast, organic chlorine offers a safer, more efficient, and economically viable solution, capable of ensuring reliable disinfection processes without compromising human safety or operational sustainability.
